A foundational platform for understanding non-human genomes, enabling on-demand genetic design of productive, sustainable and climate-resilient food & farming solutions
At Biographica, we are building the world’s first foundation-model-based platform for understanding genetics in non-human organisms. We’re harnessing this understanding to design next-generation food and farming solutions with unprecedented efficiency, from gene-edited crops to biopesticides and beyond. Our vision is a world in which agricultural R&D is no longer about experimental trial-and-error and observational discovery. Instead, it's powered by predictive, ML-driven design, revolutionising how we meet global food demands for a growing population on a changing planet.
Accelerate development of productive, nutritious & sustainable food sources
While gene-editing of crops is becoming ever more efficient, identifying which genes to edit and how remains a significant challenge. Our vision is to overcome this bottleneck, by becoming the foundational platform providing novel, high quality, contextualised gene-editing targets to the seed industry. In doing so, we will accelerate the development of more productive, nutritious and sustainable crops, enhancing both human and planetary health.
To fulfil our ambition, we’re taking inspiration from innovations in the drug discovery space to design ML-based solutions for target discovery in agriculture. Specifically, we’re developing a lab-in-the-loop platform which combines state-of-the-art ML and large-scale sequencing datasets to identify genetic targets in an accurate, explainable and actionable manner.
Having closed our pre-seed round in July 2023 and demonstrated proof-of-concept in early studies, we’re spending 2024 developing and validating our technology further, to create a first-in-class platform for gene discovery in plant sciences.
Join us on our mission to revolutionise agriculture and safeguard the future of food!
